Just a list of some of my all-time favorite games with my likes and dislikes. Maybe it will introduce you to a game that you’re not familiar with. I thought about a top 10 list but it’s hard for me to rate games from 1 to 10 since I love all of the games in this list for different reasons. There are many more games that I thoroughly enjoyed and will show up under a different list category, but these are the games that I spent many hours and for some up to 6 months.
Resident Evil 4
(My all-time favorite of the Resident Evil franchise, the original and the remake)
My Likes:
- Good Storyline
- Interesting and engaging characters
- Challenging bosses and gameplay
- Puzzles of different types and complexities
- Different mini-games such as the shooting range and Mercenary Mode which keeps things interesting.
- Creepy atmosphere
My Dislikes:
- Grading system that punishes for the number of saves. (I’m a big saver so it’s very hard for me to get above a B ranking)
- Protecting Ashley especially in the water room.
Horizon Zero Dawn
Third person open world game set in a post-apocalyptic world run by rogue robots and computers.
My Likes:
- Good story line that really gets you connected to the character Aloy.
- Vast open world
- Great character development and storyline
- Detailed weapon and character skills
- Challenging boss fights
- Puzzles of various types and skill levels
My Dislikes:
- The final boss is almost too challenging. It’s extremely hard too beat even on New game plus
Horizon Forbidden West
Continues the story of Aloy in her quest to try and save earth and humanity along with some friends.
What I liked about it:
- Getting to play in a whole new world.
- Upgraded graphics make you feel like you’re actually in the locations. I actualy felt like I was on the beach.
- There are times where you get to play as different characters
- Loved the storyline and character development
- Boss fights are still challenging but not quite as brutal.
- New Game Plus and you can continue to play in the world after beating the main storyline.
What I didn’t like:
- No complaints
God of War (2018)
Kratos continues his journey set in Norse Mythology. The game is a third person open world game.
My Likes:
- Loved the story line and the interactions with Kratos and his son Atreus.
- Vast open world
- Large skill and weapon tree.
- Exciting and engaging gameplay with challenging bosses.
- The dialog and relationships between all of the characters as well as NPC characters was very entertaining.
God of War Ragnarök
A continuation from the previous game but now Atreus is a rebellious teenager.
My Likes:
- Great graphics and gameplay
- Tons of quests and side quests
- Lots of puzzles of various types and skill levels
- Challenging bosses and mini bosses
- Large open world
- The storyline as in all God of War games is intense and well done. There are also some great funny moments that had me laughing out loud.
Dislikes:
- Playing as Atreus, his skills and weapon skills are limited
- The armor for Atreus and Freya is looks only, no skills, perks, or special abilities connected to them.
Far Cry 6
Open World First Person Shooter that is set on a fictional island based on Cuba.
My Likes:
- Great storyline
- Well done graphics that make you feel like you are on the beach
- The characters and character development throughout the game is good.
- The music played throughout the game is great. Definitely had me bobbing my head!
- Vast open world with plenty of main and side quests
- Lots of puzzles of varying types and difficulties
- Many weapons to choose from
- Interesting hidden alternative ending
- Entertaining and exciting gameplay
Dislikes:
- I thought there could have been more and better clothing choices
- Not much character skills and perks it mainly focuses on the weapons
Assassin’s Creed Origins
My Likes:
- Huge Open World
- Great storyline and characters
- Lots of historical content along with a tour of Egypt
- Exciting gameplay
- Lots of quests and side quests
- Beautiful graphics
- Lots of puzzles of varying difficulties and types
- A good variety of weapons and armor
Dislikes:
- I’m not a fan of the long ship battles
